Sony Music Labels Inc is launching a new virtual space project, “ReVers3:x” featuring rapper KEIJU’s performance!

Sony Music Labels Inc.’s new virtual space ‘ReVers3:x’ (read as inverted cross) is now live! It’s a space where people can watch short live videos of their favorite artists’ performances. Popular rapper KEIJU’s performance was the very first live broadcast on this project and was also streamed on YouTube.

This project is hosted in a virtual space specially created by Sony Music Labels Inc. using Sony’s latest technology, also in cooperation with other Sony group companies. People can watch short live performances by various artists in a virtual space. KEIJU’s performance scene took place on the streets of Tokyo, all of which were created virtually.

This space was originally produced with the cooperation of MomentTokyo, REZ & and boo, which is known for XRLIVE productions. Inside this space, there are artworks created by OFBYFOR TOKYO digital artists including many young, cutting-edge creators. The teaser that was released when the launch of this project was announced, has accumulated more than 300,000 views. With high expectations, the entire project has finally been revealed.

KEIJU performed 3 trending songs, ‘Falling’, ‘Tears’ and ‘In My Eyez’. The audience was amazed by the experience of entering a real video game space. The stage was surrounded by special effects of cherry blossom petals falling in sync with the songs. They also experimented with driving through the city in this virtual space with this song. This live broadcast was posted in full size on the official ReVers3:x YouTube channel.

The live broadcast was shot at Sony’s Volumetric Capture Studio Tokyo. Sony’s volumetric technology is one of the highest qualities in the world. MomentTokyo created the virtual space with volumetric capture technology using Sony’s 4K camera equipment and UNREAL ENGINE.

The VJ and REZ team, who have both been active in major festivals, assisted with the lighting and visual direction as VJs. Thanks to their skill and effort, the quality of the live show was on a whole new level compared to the usual virtual musical performances. Their incredible visual direction was possible thanks to this unique virtual environment which is very different from live performances broadcast live from a real location.

The ReVers3:x project plans to have more live XR shows, mostly with more HIP HOP artists in a random schedule for the 1st season starting in March 2022. Its goal is to be a cross-cultural venue and will release all kinds of entertainment in a virtual space. Please read Volume 2.

NOTE: Volumetric technology is used to create 3D movies where people can see from any direction with high resolution. People and space are filmed by dozens of cameras which are all installed throughout the studio and then converted into digital data. With this volumetric technology we can capture the real world as it is and can show angles where normally cameras do not exist and when paired with infographics new creative visual expression is possible.

【Profile of Moment Tokyo × REZ& × boo 】

Starting operations in 2015, Moment Tokyo is a company specializing in live action shooting. They have created live videos of many artists including m-flo, MIYAVI and Ikimonogakari, also created post-event films for music festivals such as EDC JAPAN and GREENROOM FESTIVAL. They also did a live document for Porter Robinson. After covid they invited over 500 artists to their own studio and created these films. XR LIVE is a continuation of their business, and they are growing. Their forte is their skill in shooting live-action movies, and they have made various XR LIVE videos over the past couple of years.

REZ& is a resident video jockey who did the visuals and developed the system for many events, including Asia’s biggest club “ageHa”, from 2012 until “THE GRAND FINAL” in 2022. He is the one of the iconic Japanese VJs and his works vary. He is visual director and VJ for many music festivals like “ULTRA JAPAN”, “EDC JAPAN” and “SUMMER SONIC” and tours with international artists.

Right now, he’s working with Moment Tokyo and Boo, as they direct, develop, and plan the XR live show using technologies like UNREAL ENGINE and TouchDesigner. They put energy into cultivating a new live performance scene in the Far East.

A unit of visual artists that began its career in 2011 and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. They have worked successfully for the visual direction of spaces, including events like “Wednesday Campanella Nippon Budokan Performance -Hakkaku Universe” AND “the tofubeats release party” “RUN”.

In recent years, they have been devoting more energy to developing the visual direction of virtual spaces like live online and XR (cross reality). They did the space visual effects with lighting, VJ and laser for the “KizunaAI 5th Anniversary” and “MIKU EXPO 2021 Inline” events.

【KEIJU’s Profile】

KEIJU is a member of the HIP HOP team called ‘KANDYTOWN’ with 16 members which includes a rapper, track creator, DJ and director who all live in Tokyo and have known each other since childhood. They are active in various fields ranging from music and KEIJU stands out in the team with his strong individuality, smooth voice as a rapper and very photogenic looks.

He performed as a rapper for “LONELY NIGHTS feat.YOUNG JUJU” by tofubeats, “Remember feat.YOUNG JUJU” by Awitch and “Drippin feat.IO & YOUNG JUJU” by Shota Shimizu in 2017. His performance was amazing , and we can call him the guest performance king of the Japanese HIP HOP scene. He started working as a solo artist and got a contract with a major label, Sony Music Labels Inc. He is the first artist from KANDYTOWN to have signed a major contract. He changed his artist name to KEIJU and he released his first single “Let Me Know” from Sony Music Labels in 2018.

He released a song “Summertime” in collaboration with singer RIRI. This song was a commercial song for SHISEIDO ‘ANESSA’ sunscreen line which premiered under producer Nariaki Obukuro in April 2019.

When the commercial was exhibited all over Asia, his presence left Japan as he performed this song in Taipei for the first time with Taiwanese singer Julia Wu who released the remixed version of this song in September of the same year.

In July 2020, he released his major debut album “TATO” and ranked 4th on the Apple Music album chart.

【Profile of GUCCIMAZE】

He is a graphic designer who works in Tokyo. Its typography has a three-dimensional shape with a crisp, hard feel. His color palette is vivid but also gives a poisonous aspect making his graphic works unique and original.

He became independent in 2018 and has collaborated with many artists and brands from Japan and beyond.

His main works include providing graphics to famous artists such as Fetty Wap, Post Malone and Flying Lotus. He also did an album cover for American rapper Nicki Minaj. And he has collaborated with global companies like Calvin Klein, SEIKO, Crocs. He had a solo exhibition ‘MAZE’ in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2020 and a group exhibition ‘CHAOS LAYER’ at Tsukigime Gallery with Kosuke Kawamura and Yoshirotten in 2021.
