New Gateway to Emerging Virginia Immersive Technology
Richmond, Virginia, March 28, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AccessVR and GCubed Enterprises, Inc. (GCubed), in association with Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC) and Germanna Community College, are thrilled to announce that the first program The Country’s Immersive Learning Lab for Workforce Development is here in Virginia! The coalition hosted an invite-only preview event on March 28, at the GCubed office suite in Stafford, Virginia. Attendees had the opportunity to experience live virtual reality demonstrations, interact with in-person and virtual actors, engage with industry leaders, and brainstorm how to plan the main -work of tomorrow.
GCubed’s AccessVR Lab will bring immersive XR (extended reality) technologies to all sectors of society, creating a shared marketplace for the distribution of XR-marketed talent, services, products and experiences here in the heart of Virginia’s Immersive Technology Corridor. XR is an umbrella term that describes all immersive technologies that merge or extend the human experience in reality by blending the virtual and physical worlds or creating a fully immersive experience. These technologies can include augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR).

The lab will serve as a training center for future content creators through apprenticeships, internships, and career certifications, and it will be the first in a growing network of immersive learning labs available to Virginia citizens and businesses for share knowledge, resources, training and partnership opportunities. The space includes a development studio, conference room/command center, TacMaze, 360 and VR (virtual reality) video editing suites, and offices.
