Graphic Packaging: Announces Michelle Fitzpatrick as the Company’s Senior Chief Sustainability Officer
Graphic Packaging Holding Company announced today that Michelle M. Fitzpatrick, Ph.D., will join the company as Senior Director of Sustainability. Graphic Packaging has long been committed to conducting its operations in a sustainable manner and has continued to advance the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) programs for the benefit of all stakeholders. The Company’s consumer packaging solutions are inherently sustainable, are made from renewable and recyclable materials, and support the transition to a more circular economy.
Graphic Packaging has the future of the planet in mind with critical investments in infrastructure and people to continuously advance innovation efforts and its determination to reduce packaging waste and impact on the environment. The appointment of Michelle Fitzpatrick is another step in the Company’s pursuit of Vision 2025 and reflects awareness of the critical nature of sustainable business practices in achieving these goals. Graphic Packaging has made great strides in executing ESG programs and initiatives, including the Coated Recycled Cardboard Plant Optimization Project which will be rolled out in Q4 2021, and helping customers achieve their ESG aspirations with new innovative and more circular packaging alternatives.

Most recently, Michelle served as Global Sustainability Leader at The Chemours Company, one of the world’s leading producers of titanium dioxide. Michelle also holds a doctorate. in Environmental Engineering (Civil) from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in addition to his MSE in Environmental Engineering and his BSE in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University.
Michelle has excelled in advancing corporate sustainability programs by developing unique strategies specific to designated industry goals. Michelle’s role will support Graphic Packaging’s commitment to making a positive and lasting impact on the planet and on future generations through sustainable fiber-based consumer packaging solutions. As CSO, Michelle will collaborate with the company’s cross-functional global leaders and interact with the board on a regular basis, building on and implementing the company’s ESG strategy. His appointment reflects the organization’s commitment to continuous innovation in the sustainability of global operations and the packaging solutions produced for customers and consumers.
